"Aft hae I roved by bonnie Doon to see the woodbine twine, and ilka bird sang o' its love..."
Ye Banks and Ye Braes
31: Ye Banks and Ye Braes
This is Shaw’s arrangement of a traditional Scot’s song. Something to be sung on Burns Night perhaps, after the haggis has been addressed and eaten. It was published in the keys of F, G, and A.
The light Scots dialect includes the word ‘braes’ which are the ‘hillsides’, and ‘ilka’, which means ‘every’.
